Amelia “Melody” (Thomas) is a singer/Songwriter and producer from Hackney, East London. Formerly known as 'Miss Melody'. Born in the South American country of Guyana, the 30 year old Reggae and R&B singer came to England with her Mum, dad, twin sister and two elder sisters at the tender age of 3 years old. Melody began singing at the age of 12. At 14 she began working with vocal trainers and artist developers while at Reality Bytes which was a youth performing arts organisation in London founded by Peaches Cadogan. During this time she realised that songwriting and the art of lyrics have long been her passion and began to write songs for local talented artists. Added to her array of talents Melody linked up with Producer and DJ, “Chronic X” where she developed her skills in Music Production, using Programs such as Cubase and logic she loves creating a variety of genres and experimenting with her music. Melody has written and produced a wealthy catalogue of her own material as well as collaborating with and writing for local and international artists. She has also performed at various venues across the UK, Europe, Canada and the Caribbean including the 291 show at Hackney Empire, a variety of Songwriters Competitions, Reality Byte's showcase, The Canadian Reggae Fest, Guyana national stadium and national Park, and Hootenanny Brixton, just to name a few.
In 2010 she decided to further her knowledge of the industry by enrolling on a BA honors Degree course in music industry management where she learnt a lot about Royalties, artist management, music law and more. At this time she was also working as management and administration in various labels , production companies and recording studios gaining further experience. In 2015 Melody signed to manager Starr Vybz and began working on project which is a beautiful blend of Lovers rock and Reggae tracks mostly produced by Starr vybz entertainment, Rebel liberation Records, Buzzwak records, Digitech productions and Live vybes music. She has released three singles from her debut EP 'Reggae and Blues' so far but it was ‘Love everlasting’ that won her the 2016 single of the year in Guyana. Melody also picked up best r&b female and best lovers rock female. Her highly anticipated new independent singles are set for release early July 2020. Which include the tracks 'Lights' and 'Told me'Melody Thomas is a pioneer in royalty management and music licensing through her previous employment as a music licensing agent for PRS for music London and aims to educate artists, music businesses and music users alike on the benefits of protecting your works, becoming a PRO member, making money from your music and as businesses the importance of supporting our artists. Melody's music can only be described as a harmonic blend of R&B and Reggae, her voice is soulful and sweet with a touch of rough but yet also melodious as her name suggests. In July 2020, Melody released her single 'Shoulda Told Me' which was produced by Chris acoustic out of Jamaica. The single has done well worldwide gaining her a top 20 spot on the UK Reggae best singles of 2020. Here new release 'BETTER' is a blend of dancehall and rnb and is set to be released August 1st 2021 of her House Of Melody label. “If I’m doing it I’m doing it big!
